Welcome to the Olympic and Kitsap Peninsulas: Home to breathtaking mountains, lush rainforests, pristine beaches, sparkling lakes and rivers, diverse wildlife and friendly towns. Our area is bounded on the west by the Pacific Ocean, the north by the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and the east by Puget Sound. Clallam, Jefferson and Kitsap counties, as well as the northern parts of Grays Harbor, Pierce, and Mason counties, are on the Peninsula. The Peninsula is home to Port Angeles, Sequim, Port Townsend, Bainbridge Island, Port Orchard, Bremerton, the Hood Canal, Olympic Mountains, and the Olympic National Park. Of the handful of temperate rain forests in the world, the Olympic National Park is home to the worlds largest, the Hoh, as well as the Queets and Quinault. Our area is know for an incomparable variety of outdoor activities. Locals and visitors alike enjoy year-round birding, golfing, fishing, kayaking, hiking, boating...just to name a few! On the Olympic Peninsula, the cities of Port Angeles, Sequim and Port Townsend enjoy a mild coastal climate with Port Angeles averaging 25 inches of rain per year, and Sequim and Port Townsend just 16 inches per year! The Olympic Peninsula lies directly across the Strait of Juan de Fuca from the beautiful city of Victoria, B.C., which is accessible by ferry in Port Angeles. Scenic Port Angeles offers the Olympic Medical Center, several fine restaurants and movie theatres. Sequim, the Peninsula's retirement community, is home of the Roosevelt Elk Herd and is known as the Lavender Capital of North America. Sequim is also the shopping hub of the Olympic Peninsula, featuring Costco, Home Depot, Walmart and a variety of specialty boutique shops. Olympic Peninsula residents enjoy a number of fine dining establishments (make sure to order our local Dungeness Crab!), several unique wineries and local farmers markets. The Kitsap Peninsula, completely surrounded by water and only nine nautical miles from downtown Seattle, is home to quiet communities and tranquil saltwater coves. It is connected to the Seattle area by several ferries and to the Olympic Peninsula by the Hood Canal floating bridge. Quite a bit wetter than the Olympic Peninsula, the Kitsap Peninsula averages 50 inches of rain per year, with some communities getting up to 68 inches per year! This rainfall makes for lush gardens, forests and pasture, and doesn't seem to keep visitors and locals from enjoying the outdoors! The area features eleven golf courses, including two being ranked by Golf Digest in the Nation’s top 200 public courses. The charming communities of Bainbridge Island, Port Orchard and Bremerton have big-city features with everything from galleries to craft shops, antiques, specialty shops, large chain stores and of course the Kitsap Mall in Silverdale.
